Donna Hooks Flecther Historical Museum has memorabilia, photos and artifacts from the founding of Donna, TX. Our museum has three historical buildings on its grounds: the original home of Lon C. Hill, Harlingen's town founder; the Paso Real Stagecoach Inn, and Harlingen's first hospital. The McAllen Heritage Center - museum of history and culture is located in downtown McAllen's historic former US post office constructed in 1935. The heritage center hosts memorabilia, artifacts, maps and photos that tell the story of McAllen's 100 year history and also features the work of local artists. Shop in the La Tiendita museum store where to you can many historical books, postcards, tees, jewelry, souvenirs and more all to benefit the museum mission. The Museums of Port Isabel is a complex consisting of three diverse facilities, the Port Isabel Historic Museum, the Treasures of the Gulf Museum, and the Point Isabel Lighthouse. All three are within walking distance of each other and are open year around to the public.

Palo Alto Battlefield National Historical Park near Brownsville, Texas is a National Park Service unit which preserves the grounds of the May 8, 1846, Battle of Palo Alto. It was the first major conflict in a border dispute that soon precipitated the Mexicanu2013American War. The United States Army victory here made the invasion of Mexico possible. The historic site portrays the battle and the war, and its causes and consequences, from the perspectives of both the United States and Mexico.

The Brownsville Museum of Fine Art strives to contribute to the art education and cultural enrichment of the community, exhibit works of art, arrange for and offer educational programs for children and adults, and encourage and develop the appreciation and advancement of art throughout the community.

The Museums of San Benito are located in the San Benito Community Building at 210 E. Heywood (Corner of North Reagan & East Heywood), and are open Thursday through Saturday from 10am - 4pm, or by special group arrangements by calling 956-399-9991, 956-399-6032, 956-245-1666 or 956-276-9588. The Museums include the
San Benito History Museum, the Freddy Fender Museum and the Texas Conjunto Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

The Veterans War Memorial Foundation of Texas provides an educational, cultural, and historical facility to assist our children, and future generations, to learn about the sacrifices of those who died in the service of their country. The Veterans War Memorial of Texas emphasizes the value of their legacy, and the important lessons which must be learned from those sacrifices. Events on Veterans Day, Memorial Day and Pearl Harbor Day are held each year with the support of the City of McAllen. Veterans, teachers, students, and all community members are encouraged to attend honoring all veterans for their service and remembering the sacrifice of those who gave their lives for the United States of America.
